As a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, I believe that everyone has the potential for growth and change in their personal development, towards a happier, more satisfied and accepting version of themselves, no matter how challenging their upbringing, past or current situation is seen.

Working Integratively means I help to facilitate my Clients towards their own personal growth in awareness by using a range of different counselling psychotherapies, which focus on looking at thoughts, feelings, responses and patterns of behaviours.  My Clients begin to reflect on their lives and learn new helpful techniques so that they feel better about themselves and their past or present situations.

Whilst initially you may feel nervous,  my aim is for you to relax into the process of therapy and feel at ease.  Many people grow to look forwards to their sessions.  My role is to listen to you, notice what you say and how you say it, gently challenging you on occasion and inviting you to reflect in return what I notice.  This is how you grow in your own self-awareness.  Your session experience should feel nurturing and gentle and on the occasions when we talk about what's difficult or painful for you, we will do this in a way that feels ok and safe for you - your wellbeing is paramount to me.  I strongly believe working this way leads to a successful Client and Counsellor relationship by building trust and working respectively and congruently together enables me to integrate and tailor your therapy to suit your individual needs and help increase your personal development.

Your relationship with your Counsellor will be unique, and it's worth spending a little time finding the one that feels right for you.  A list of qualified Counsellors can be found on The Counselling Directory Website at www.counselling-directory.org.uk.  I begin with a free 30 minute introductory call to find out a little more about your needs and before inviting you for assessment session.  During Assessment, it's your opportunity to see how things feel and with no obligation to go further, find out more about how I work, and give you the opportunity to ask me any questions.  If we decide to work together, we will then arrange a date for your first therapy session at the regular session price of £55, usually starting with a commitment of six sessions.  Of course you are free to leave before this time but this recommended minimum term gives a real taste of how therapy can be of benefit before deciding if you'd like to continue longer term.

There is no black and white, or right or wrong answers in Counselling.  I will always respect your individuality, treat you with congruence and empathy, and most importantly, uphold our moral and ethical code of conduct.  If you would like to read more about the BACP Framework and guidelines for Counsellors, visit the BACP website at www.
